Fiberglass has been used to insulate structures for decades, and our team has experience installing both batt and blown-in fiberglass. This type of insulation is made of tiny glass fibers and is often installed in attics but can be used to insulate walls and crawl spaces as well.
Spray foam insulation is applied wet and expands into thick foam that fits snugly in wall cavities, crevices and gaps—therefore, it can be installed in hard-to-reach areas and around piping and wiring. Open-cell and closed-cell spray foam is available. Spray foam insulation is very energy-efficient and helps with air sealing as well.
Cellulose insulation is made from recycled newsprint and other recycled paper. Consisting of up to 80 percent recycled content and requiring less energy to make than other types of insulation, it’s one of the most environmentally friendly insulation materials available.
Typically made of fiberglass, batt insulation is available in pre-cut panels. It can be used to insulate any area of your home—walls, ceilings, crawl spaces, etc.—and is actually one of the most commonly used forms of insulation.
“Blown-in” refers to a method of installation—blown-in insulation is installed with a special blowing device. Fiberglass is available in blown-in form, and cellulose is as well. Blown-in cellulose is also called loose-fill cellulose. Loose-fill insulation can be used in many areas of your home and is particularly useful if you need to fill lots of small gaps, leaks and crevices in the attic.
